Life can be so unfair. Most times bad things happen especially to people we think don’t deserve it. It is true that sometimes those we sacrifice the most for usually don’t appreciate us, and turn their backs on us. Such are just a few of life’s trials and it is usually accompanied by an overwhelming feeling. The ability to overcome such trials strengthens our faith, but some people, even believers, still question if it is worth it. Personally, I think it is necessary to be tested by trials, just as gold is tested by fire. It calls to question our loyalty and prepares us for life uncertainties. Even with our doubts, God always strengthens us for He never leaves nor forsake us. His grace is sufficient for us and His helping hands are ever present as demonstrated in the excerpt of the scripture below.
“And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord , which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And Israel saw that great work which the Lord did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the Lord , and believed the Lord , and his servant Moses”. – Exodus 14:13-14, 31
The Israelite having worked as slaves for over 400 years in Egypt knew little about God, except what was passed down for generations. Therefore, it is considerable that their perception of God’s power and love was not well grounded. In a trying time, they turned on Moses and wished he left them in Egypt to face death. They blamed the one that even risked his life to deliver them from slavery. But God’s love is far greater than any fear. Even though they doubted Him, he delivered them boldly and their faith increased.
If God can be there for those that hardly knew Him and questioned His power, think of the immerse love that God beckons on those that serve Him with their whole heart. Life is unfair, that is the bitter truth but we have the help of He that made everything, for the earth is His and all the fullness therefore. As believers, we have an invaluable treasure in God, yet we allow fear, doubt, life’s distractions to get in the way. .
Now, ask yourself, which is preferable, your fears or God’s love? Rather than clinging to fear, let us choose God’s love and pray for the ability to be gifted with the fear of God. The fear of God is a higher level, that combines God’s love and obedience to His words. Contrary to the word “fear”, it provokes faithfulness, love and allegiance. Cling to God, never let Him go and eventually you will hold your peace. The perfect example of God’s love paves a way for daily living by imitating God’s love even to those we feel don’t even deserve it. Accept the trials with love. This create an outstanding peace that is unfathomable. No wonder the word emphases that ”The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding’ – Proverb 9:10.
Therefore, it pays more to tune your fears to God, and experience overwhelming peace.
